Common Ground
A collaborative game/tool for children together with architects, planners, designers, builders, etc. as part of the process of developing a new play area.
The game aims to trigger discussions, generate ideas and highlight problems and potential. It aims to visualize the interests of the participants and lead to better planning and design of places where children’s wishes and needs are taken into account throughout the whole process.
Des&Do! / Svensk Form Väst / S-P-O-K
Job title / position: Child Culture Designer
Collaboration with Eisel Miranda and Pontus Johansson
Produced by Game Prototyper
Completion year: 2024
Designed for collaboration. Game rules and goals are not predefined, but left open to the player’s interpretation and needs.
During the game, participants are asked to think about different aspects of the built environment, play, weather, nature, senses, participation and accessibility, etc.
The discussions and conversations that follow can then be materialized and woven into the place that is slowly built up on the playing field and which hopefully ends up being a good place for children, adults, animals, and nature.
